PopTent is based out of Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. The website was founded in March of 2007. The current team consists of nearly 20 individuals, including CEO Andy Jedynak, CMO Neil Perry, Vice President of Technology Timothy Breslin, Senior Community Manager Mark Schoneveld and Vice President of Client Relations Tony Romeo. The website was originally created as a social platform that gave freelance and professional videographers a resource to find high end projects offered by well-known companies.

Creative film makers can put together commercials, infomercials and other video clips to submit to contests hosted by some of the most popular brands on the market. The PopTent website has a very clean, organized design that comes with a bit of personality. The colorful logo features orange and blue with a triangular play icon inside the ‘o’. New users can join PopTent by clicking the white “Join” link in the upper, right hand corner of the website. A pop up box appears with six tabs. The first tab is for an existing PopTent login. The others give users the ability to log in with a Facebook, Twitter, Google, Linked In or OpenID account. The bottom of the PopTent tab includes a link that reads “or, create a new PopTent account”. Clicking this will take the user to the registration form which requires a username, full name, email address, password and gender. A check box at the bottom is automatically selected to send the user new assignment notifications. The user must manually uncheck this to opt out of assignment updates.
PopTent invites all freelance and professional videographers to create accounts for free. There are no registration fees or other charges for doing so. The user can browse current and past assignments as much as they like. If the user happens to win an assignment, they are paid the prize or payment on Net 30 day terms by check.
